One day, after nine years Narsimha went with his children, a son -Mahendra and a daughter -Kundavai, to meet Aayanar.Narsimha informed that he is leaving for Vathapi with his force on an auspicious day - Vijayadasami. Aayanar wanted to join them.By that time Aayanar had finished 108 dance postures as ordered by Narsimha. Narsimha had asked to do so to come out of his depression.

Maanavanman, a Sri Lankan prince helped Narsimha in training elephants. He had trained them to throw huge iron rods to throw inside the fort. He came here asking Narsimha's help to get back his throne in Sri Lanka. Maanavanman's father was a close friend of Mahendra Pallava. So, he became very close to Narsimha. Paranjyothi did not like this.

Pandya Prince, Nedumaran was expected to join them. But he did not come.

Vaanamadevi,Pandya Princess, married to Narsimha was a beautiful and sincere lady. Though she knew the affair between Sivagami and Narsimha from the beginning she did not ask anything about that to Narsimha all these years. But now she mentioned that she is ready to quit. This makes Narsimha to admire her. He immediately compares her with Sivagami. He could feel the difference of adamant,suspicious Sivagami and a compromising, really affectionate Vaanamadevi. He promised her that he will never marry anyone else and she can remain as Queen. He asks her to kill Pandya Prince, her brother if necessary. He suspects him for not helping in this war. Narsimha knew that once he had an intention of ruling whole of south India (before their marriage).So, Maamalla suspects that he may kill his son, during his absence.

Then the next morning, Narsimha left to Vathapi with his large army, Aayanar, Paranjyothi's uncle for treating the wounded soldiers. He left Maanavanman in Kanchi since Paranjyothi did not like their friendship.

Cholas were not strong during these years. A Chola king wanted to marry her only daughter, Mangayarkarasi, to a great prince. He gave her permission to choose her life-partner and went to join the Pallava army with his small force.She stays with Bhuvanamahadevi.

Pandya Prince who really wanted to help Narsimha was trapped by Jains on his way to Kanchi. After sometime he comes to Kanchi. He and Mangayarkarasi love each other. When Vaanamadevi tries to kill him he reveals that he was stopped by Jains and really wanted to help Narsimha.

Gudodharan was sent to Vathapi to get the details of the current status of Vathapi. He said that - at present ,Pulakesin is not in Vathapi. He had gone to Ajanta. He had developed interests in arts in these years. He also mentioned that Sivagami is fine and expecting them.

Maanavanman reached Vathapi with Pandya's force. Nedumaran did not come. Paranjyothi agreed his joining the force with displeasure since he had given good training to elephants. Though Paranjyothi did not the like the friendship of Narsimha and Maanavanman he had no other reason for not liking Maanavanman.

During the past three years spies under Chatrugna sent real messages (military secrets) regarding the preparation to Vathapi. Each year Pulakesin made all the preparations for a war.This year he did not believe that there will be a war. He was told that the army is going to help Maanavanman to regain his throne. So, he left for Ajanta.

During these years, slowly she started to forget that she was asked to dance in the streets. She could also see other captives were happily started settling themselves. She could feel her stupidty of making such a great vow. She wanted to write that asking Maamalla to take her back. But she could not do this because of Naganandi's words. He was mocking at Maamalla's valour.She used to scold Maamalla for leaving her when she was alone.

Naganandi introduced a Chinese traveller, Hieun Tsang, to Sivagami. He was surprised by her dance movements. He told her that violence should be avoided and asked her to forget her vow. Naganandi had asked her to come to Ajanta all these years. She did not leave her home. She felt that Maamalla may come anytime. But after some years her hope started diminishing.

In this situation , one fine day she met Gundodharan (in disguise). He told her the arrival of Maamalla with his army and the death of Mahendra Pallava.He did not mention the other incident. She asked him to convey her message to Maamalla to stop this war. He also scolded him for all her problems. She feared about the result of the war. She was told not to reveal the arrival of Maamalla.

As soon as he left, Naganandi came there, informed that he is going to come back as an ordinary person so that he could marry her. He did not want to continue as a monk.
